Nigel is a regulatory compliance specialist with nearly 40 years’ experience in the global financial services industry. His career includes senior industry roles as Global Chief Technology Officer at interdealer broker ICAP and Head of Global Derivative Services at JP Morgan. He has also been a Partner at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte Consulting, and most recently served as EMEA Head of Financial Services at FTI Consulting.
Nigel now serves as Senior Advisor to international law firm Squire Patton Boggs, advising governments, financial regulators, and financial institutions on complex regulatory and financial crime matters.
He has advised governments including the UAE, Malta, and South Africa on strengthening national frameworks to combat financial crime, particularly in the context of avoiding or recovering from FATF grey listing.
Nigel has also worked extensively with regulators worldwide, including the UAE authorities, the European Central Bank, the UK Financial Conduct Authority, CySEC, the Malta MFSA, and the South African Reserve Bank. His work frequently involves advising on complex investigations into financial institutions relating to financial crime and regulatory compliance failures.
His corporate clients include banks, asset managers, funds, FinTechs, MSBs, crypto exchanges, and gambling platforms, where he advises on governance and control frameworks designed to mitigate regulatory risk.
Nigel is also an experienced expert witness, providing testimony in litigation and arbitration on matters including market manipulation, sanctions circumvention, terrorist financing, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
Nigel holds a BSc Econometrics from London School of Economics and a JD from New York University.
